Plant Shed Summer Sale at the Palma Sola Botanical park in Bradenton, Florida

I had the opportunity to collaborate with the team at Palma Sola Botanical Park to photograph some of the events they are doing within the community to bring awareness to the park they maintain for the public. One of those events was a fundraiser benefiting the non-profit where they offered plants to the local public from their garden. The variety in plants they had to offer coupled with the beautiful surroundings of the park made for a truly unique and enjoyable event and many people came to take advantage of what they had to offer.

If you haven’t been to the Botanical Park and seen all it has to offer as a relaxing and scenic getaway, I highly recommend you plan a stroll through and be sure to check out the Tea Tree Cafe which is a new addition to the park if you are looking for a refreshing tea or delicious snack. They offer gluten free and vegan options and their rosemary and cranberry scone with vanilla bean icing is my current craving!

Check out my coverage of the event below and take note of the gorgeous butterflies floating around the grounds - they maintain a large butterfly garden that attracted so many butterflies during this event and made the atmosphere even more amazing.

In addition to their lush garden grounds, the park now also regularly hosts local artists to exhibit their work and have begun highlighting the art in their beautiful indoor gallery. They invite you to come and stroll the gardens, grab some lite bites from the on-site cafe, and take in the art created by locals within the community.

While photographing their grand opening for the event, I had the privilege of speaking with the featured artist Sally Wooldridge. Sally is a nature and wildlife watercolorist and her beautiful paintings filled the gallery walls with color and life when you stepped inside. Upon asking Sally which piece on display she would describe as special to her, she brought me to a marsh landscape she had painted in memory of one of her favorite places to visit with she and her husband. The way she spoke about the painting and the memories and thought she had put into it made the painting stand out even further among the brightly colored flowers and garden scenes along the other walls of the room. Being able to meet Sally as the artist and listening to her share about her experiences provided a refreshing view into her world and brought even more appreciation to the rest of the beautiful work on display.

It was a pleasure being a part of documenting the grand opening for the park and I hope you enjoy the highlights from the evening and find yourself at the next Art in the Park exhibit to see more of what the park has to offer (and to try some of their delicious treats!).
